Scottish Castles to RentLadies, I found this on Amazon this is amazing and hilarious too. Of course I could never afford this but one could dream. Perhaps go in a group effort. Hmmm perhaps not so foolish! Here is where I plan on staying in the future, do you like my new digs. You can definitely come and visit! After all we will have direct inspiration! Can you imagine! I sooo want to do this!

— Sarah Hoss Tue, 08/11/2009 - 4:55pm
OMG I would love to do this. I think this has to be on a future plan list. There are ones that can be had somewhat cheaply if you call £500.00 cheap! Of course I have no idea what that would be in American dollars right now. All I know is that I couldn't do it alone.
We used to rent the huge houses in North Carolina and VA that would house 15 people and we would all share the cost of the house and food.
I was thinking this could be the same deal. Of course the flight alone might set us back!

Making a group trip would be alot of fun!Not like we don't all have a few things in common.

Welcome back Pam! LOL!! Ooo payment source. Perhaps in a year we can get funds to go? I would love for my sister to come she has her own Scotland fetish as well. Since V has been there before she will have to tell us of all the steals and deals and sites to hit.

— bttrfly29 Thu, 08/13/2009 - 8:56am
LOL, sounds like so much fun! Would you girls be mad if I asked a man in a kilt if he was regiment or not? Hee Hee!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Thu, 08/13/2009 - 10:24am
Heck no! When I went to Nova Scotia (I highly recommend if you can't get to Scotland! LOL) I think I asked every person I saw in a kilt either what was under it (what do you want I was 20 years old! LOL) or if they were in a regimine at the Halifax Citidel. LOL.
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Fri, 08/14/2009 - 6:55am
You must have been drunk or they got drunk. I heard that if you ask them and they are (which means nuttin under) you have to buy thema beer. If they aren't (which means they have drawers on) they have to buy you one.
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Fri, 08/14/2009 - 12:02pm
Let me tell you if I wasn't with my ex at the time HECK yeah I would have bought them a beer. Some of them were quite yummy to look at!
Just a note, most had them on. SUCH a dissapointment!!!
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Mon, 08/17/2009 - 5:41am
I think that is part of the excitemenbt of a Kilt. TO guess if there is or isn't anything below!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Mon, 08/17/2009 - 2:28pm
there isn't. I've asked on numerous occassions.
— pammerjo Mon, 08/17/2009 - 6:52pm
OMG, renting a castle sounds HEAVENLY!!!! And here's a gripe: there aren't NEARLY enough men in kilts in Scotland. Seriously. Monica and I were dreadfully disappointed...
— veronica Mon, 08/17/2009 - 11:22pm
Well, if they are doing it right, there isn't supposed to be anything under there. Though, I am sure there is an occasion when it may call for one. We should make that a stipulation when we rent our castle... must be run by all men in kilts!(Regiment only please!) LOL!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Tue, 08/18/2009 - 2:50am
LMAO!! too funny Sarah. I agree. A definite requirement. But only if he is hunky of course. LOL!
I guess if we think about it going commando under a dress can be ...well...you know rather er um exposed. LOL
Sigh...where are the real men who are not afraid to let it all hang out.
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Tue, 08/18/2009 - 7:34am

I did meet a proud Campbell last year at the Company Christmas party. In fact there were a lot of rowdy Scotsmen in the next room. Unfortunately most were married and old enough to be my da. LOL
I did refrain from asking what was under the kilt. And I was trying to indentify his clan by his tartan. It was difficult and before I could say what I thought it was (I was wrong mind you) his friend blurted it out. LOL!!
Loved the accents. The one guy says, "Well look at all these lovely lasses, why couldn't we have them down for a spot?" LOL!!
I tell you they were far more entertaining then our party!
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Thu, 08/20/2009 - 9:41am
Invite me to the next one!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Thu, 08/20/2009 - 10:29am
Love it!! "Down for a spot..." Too good. =)

I see Veronica's mind working!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Mon, 08/24/2009 - 3:36am
ok. so we rent the castle - maybe get a few other kiltoholics to go in with us - and we HIRE men in kilts to come tell us stories and legends in the evening. THEN, we make a point of going to whereever there are pipers and oogle THEIR kilts. I know most men in Scotland don't run around in kilts, but I think we can find some if we look hard enough.
— pammerjo Mon, 08/24/2009 - 5:47am
It sounds like a fun dream to me!!!!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Mon, 08/24/2009 - 9:22am
I like the way you ladies think... X:-)
— veronica Mon, 08/24/2009 - 10:52pm
LMAO!! Oh you inner workings of a desperate mind. I went to the Scottish Irish Festival this weekend in Quakertown and there were quite a few men wearing kilts. Of course they were pipers! LOL But there was a guy there selling kilts. Btw I smelled peat for the first time and it smelled heavenly!
Anyhoo, This guy selling the kilt had a cool t-shirt there "Kilt Checker". LOL I was so tempted to buy. I was just having fun watching him fit a nice looking lad in his own ultility kilts.
The utility kilts look more "manly". Also I accosted the Mackenzie clan rep. I was with her for over an hour and half. My poor sister! I felt so bad but I was hungry for information. She was so friendly and we exchanged emails so hopefully with her help and maybe some assistance from the UK clan I can get some quickie research behind me.
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Tue, 09/15/2009 - 3:54pm
Oh I think those utility kilts are SO HOT!!! Our Scottish tour guide, though, totally mocked them--LOL!! How great that you made a clan connection, Lizzie!
— veronica Wed, 09/16/2009 - 9:04pm
That's what I did Lizzie. I got on the Clan Macpheson web site and looked around then signed the Guest book. Someone answered me back and we have been chatting for a year now. He has been most helpful!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Sun, 09/20/2009 - 5:16am
That's great, Sarah! I was so chicken to contact the Cameron clan for my first book. But then they were so warm and enthusiastic!
— veronica Sun, 09/20/2009 - 1:30pm
It is very helpful to get help from the ones who know best! Have you met them in person? Have you been to their lands or anything like that? I hope one day I can go to Newtonmore, meet the Chief and visit the people!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Sun, 09/20/2009 - 5:13pm
No to both of the above, unfortunately. Someday!!
— veronica Sun, 09/20/2009 - 5:28pm
Meeting the MacKenzie Clan rep here in Pennsylvania has been a God send! I can not tell you how excited I am. She has already provided a wealth of information and sites and book suggestions that she has in her personal collection. She looked up information for me on Ballone Castle and just by hunting around I found a rather interesting book which I think would benefit us all about Castles and structure. I posted it under the Scottish Research link for you ladies. :-)
