Qu'est-ce LA DEAL???

ok - so.

I went to B&N today because Robert needed a book. I want to know how Nora Robert, Stephanie Laurens and Sabrina Jeffries are pumping them out so quickly? Now that they're well known and proven sellers, do they just recycle all the old crap that originally got rejected. I SWEAR they have a new paperback out everytime I go to the book store.

And another thing. Book covers. Is there a graphics program that makes a photo LOOK like a painting? I mean, most of these covers look like paintings, but they can't be, can they? If so - where are the originals?

In other news, found a cute maxi-dress for step-son's wedding reception in August. (they're have the reception the NIGHT BEFORE the wedding...i don't get it, either) Relieved, as have already sent back two orders from Macy's. get this - SON helped me find it, then helped to find jewelry. whassupwit'dat?

Good question about the books. I have often wondered the same thing. I wonder too, after writing 30 + books, when do you run out of ideas? When do they start to sound alike? That has to be a fear of every writer!

I am glad you have found a dress! Impressive RObert helped you, he will make a great husband one day! Send a photo of the dress please!

I KNOW! Nora is SOOOO prolific. Though if you look at her plots, some of the books are all over the place. Meaning, I think she lets her mind go, and she allows herself the freedom to write about kooky things. Just thinking off the top of my head, I can think of a fire story, deep-sea treasure hunting, Thoroughbred breeding, Irish magic, etc. etc. Plus she sees it as a job, with her butt in the chair, no matter what, for many hours a day. Last week's New Yorker had an awesome article about her. I shudder to think at how much time *I* waste, doing dishes, driving kids, surfing the web, when I could be ass-in-chair.

As for the paintings, I think they're paintings!  I saw a bunch of 'em up for auction on eBay once.  How cool would that be?!  Though I don't think they're very large.

Found one!

Well - yeah - the old ones would be paintings, before computers and such. But take the Elizabeth Hoyt covers, for instance, or even your own...they look like embellished photos?? sorta?? kinda?? How is your cover made?

hmmm. I know what you mean about the Hoyt covers. Same with the recent Lisa Kleypas historicals. Hey, you know what? I see my editor next week--I'll just ask her!! :)

(Sarah is praying that that is a real man on Veronica's cover, not embelished, not improved in anyway. Just a good old Polariod!)Please let dreams come true!!! Hee hee!

Ha! I'll keep you all posted. I'll see if I can find out who the model is too!! :)

Thanks! Will they have models at the RWA convention? Like a meet and greet kind of thing?

~Sarah~

No, that's the RT (Romantic Times) Convention! I'll be going to that for the first time next year--I made my cp promise to go with me. It's more of a fan convention, and they have a cover model contest. Models roam the building, plus there are lots of parties...sounds too fun!

OK, I am totaly hiding away in your suitcase!

~Sarah~

Yeah the RT is in Ohip next year I believe. CJ Hollenbach was at the Florida one this year. I should give him a shout out on his Facebook page to see if he will be going to the Ohio one too since he is in the area. Here is his page if you are not sure who he is: http://www.facebook.com/cjhollenbach He also has a blog as well.

I know from Cherif Fortin (you guys remember my obsession with him LOL) they have a technique where the photo is taken and then the painting can either be done from the photo or superimposed onto the painting.

Hmmm I wonder if Cherif and Lynn Sanders will go next year. They do have a new book coming out story w/ illustrated art.
You can see some of it at both their sites:
