Black Friday is the first shopping day after Thanksgiving here in the USA. Store put on major sales, open there doors at like 3 am, etc. ALOT of people make a day of shopping. I got to Walmart at 2:45 am to stand in line for an item that didn't go on sale until 5 am. BUT, i got a great deal. And it was fun. You stand there and talk to new people, hear what they are looking for etc. Sometimes people can get nasty, that always amazes me. Fist fight etc. I just have fun with my girl friends!

LOL I just saw these comments. Gayle you do not have a black friday over there????? black Friday is what Sarah said
BUT
Black Friday is really for IN THE BLACK. Accounting speak for Good Money on the books. That the real meaning behind it. IN THE RED of course means you are in a deficit. NOT a good sign.
So yes the day after Thanksgiving the first official start of the Holiday Shopping season all kinds of wonderful deals are to be had for the consumer and good money for the proprietor.
Having said that though you got to watch the sneaky part of Black Friday. Retailers who jack up their prices and then mark them down making you think you got a deal. Or my personal favorite buy 1 get one half off (not free). Most people equate the two together. When you think about it, unless you are buying for someone else why do you need two of anything? And that applies to your everyday shopping too. Buy 3 and get a coupon on your NEXT shopping trip. What kind of deal is that? None.
This has been a warning from your FORMER retail worker bee. :-)
