Ewen

Ewen

A famous painting of our laird, Sir Ewen Cameron. Not quite how I pictured him in the story, huh? But so fascinating to see a likeness of the real man. Thomas Babbington Macaulay describes him thus: "His countenance and bearing were singularly noble....Lochiel was tall and strongly built. In agility and skill at his weapons he had few equals among the inhabitants of the hills....he was spoken of as a man of such capacity and courage that it would not be easy to find his equal." Thank you for posting all of these great pictures to go with your book! What a great idea! The real Ewen pictured here looks nothing like the Ewen I imagined in your descriptive writing (thank goodness) LOL!

I know -- me neither!! I'm glad you're enjoying the Real History section. I had a lot of fun pulling it together.

best,

I have to agree, he looks nothing like the Ewen I have in my head ;)
He sort of looks like Jan Van Riebeeck, the guy that discovered South Africa in 1652 HEHE.

Hilarious! And the right time period too... LOL.
